NC aims to retain Chief Minister positions in provinces, seeks support from smaller parties

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to make efforts to retain leadership in the provinces by seeking support from fringe parties in the respective regions.

During a meeting at party President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha, NC leaders, including office bearers, lawmakers, and province leaders, agreed to strive for the continuity of the Chief Minister’s position with support from smaller parties in the provinces.

“The meeting decided to extend full support to the NC-led governments in the provinces, make efforts to ensure their continuity, ask province leaders to seek support from fringe parties, and facilitate from the central level when necessary,” stated NC leader Arjun Narsingh KC.

As of now, the NC holds power in Sudurpashchim, Lumbini, Gandaki, and Koshi provinces.

The party has initiated discussions with non-coalition parties to explore the possibility of providing continued support to the provincial governments.
