Kathmandu’s minimum temperature falls below 5°C

KATHMANDU: Temperatures continue to drop across the country, with conditions becoming increasingly colder.

In the capital, Kathmandu, temperatures are breaking records on a daily basis.

On Tuesday, Kathmandu recorded its lowest temperature of the year at 5.5 degrees Celsius. However, that record was surpassed today (Wednesday).

According to meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane from the Weather Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley was 4 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am today (Wednesday).

The official minimum temperature across the country will be announced at 8:45 am, with the possibility that the Kathmandu Valley’s temperature may either drop further or remain the same.

Meteorologists have indicated that temperatures will continue to fall until winter fully sets in. Winter officially began in Nepal on December 1 and lasts for three months.

Meteorologists explain that the lowest temperature recorded in a 24-hour period is considered the minimum temperature for that day, while the highest temperature is the maximum.

The minimum temperature is typically measured at 8:45 am, and the maximum temperature is recorded at 5:45 pm.
