KATHMANDU: Electricity will be disrupted in major areas of Kathmandu due to underground transmission line work.

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced that electricity supply will be disrupted in several locations under the Ratnapark distribution center.

The affected areas will experience a power outage from 6:30 AM to 11:00 AM.

This includes New Road Gate, Ranjana Hall, Bishal Bazar substation, the area in front of Bishal Bazar, Ganeshsthan, and the Trauma Center under the Mahabuddha feeder.

Additionally, the outage will impact Ratnapark, Bhotahiti, Ason Chowk, Bangemudha, Bhedasingh, Indrachowk, Suraj Arcade, and Masala Gallimode during the same time period.

The NEA’s notice also highlights that the power cut will affect locations from Lainchaur Substation to Lainchaur Chowk Vice President Office, Kesharmahal Durbarmarg Traffic Office, Old Jay Nepal Hall, Hattisar Chowk, Kathmandu Plaza, Nagpokhari, and Narayanchaur.

The NEA said the power outage is necessary for removing obsolete poles and conducting repairs on distribution transformers.

The NEA is undertaking these measures as part of its efforts to enhance electricity transmission through underground lines within the Kathmandu Valley.
