Construction begins on Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium in Chitwan

BHARATPUR: Bharatpur Metropolitan City has commenced the construction of the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium at Bharatpur Metropolitan City-15, in collaboration with the provincial and federal governments.

The project is moving forward with the support of local stakeholders and aims to complete within the stipulated timeline.

Santosh Acharya, head of the urban infrastructure department of the metropolitan city, stated that work on stone soling under the parapet has been expedited.

Local materials used in the construction are being rigorously tested in the metropolitan city’s laboratory, while steel rods have been sent to Kathmandu for further examination.

“Technicians and employees of the construction company are already actively working on the site,” Acharya added.

Mayor Renu Dahal has emphasized the importance of timely completion, pledging full support from the municipality.

To facilitate the construction process, the BMC plans to set up an on-site office.

According to Engineer Jagannath Aryal, Deputy Director of the Metropolitan City, the stadium will feature a parapet with a seating capacity of 10,000 spectators.

The total cost of the project is estimated at NPR 755 million. An agreement has been reached to complete the stadium by 22 Push 2083 BS.

For the current fiscal year, the federal government has allocated NPR 250 million, while the BMC has earmarked NPR 480 million.

Additionally, the Bagmati Province government will cover 70% of the total contract amount.
