Obstructed Karnali Highway comes into operation

JUMLA: The Karnali Highway that was obstructed due to torrential rain-triggered landslides has come into operation.

The Surkhet-Jumla road section has opened since this morning after the landslide at Pili, Kalyankhola and Birtamode of Kalikot was removed.

Information officer at the Jumla-based Road Division Office Bir Bahadur GT said the highway has become fully operational after the removal of landslide debris.

It has been difficult to upgrade the highway from time to time due to a lack of an adequate budget, he said, adding that the road has been repaired optimally by utilizing available resources and means.

Locals have demanded immediate up-gradation of the road.
