KATHMANDU: Three days before the start of the new academic session, the Janak Shiksha Material Center has delivered textbooks to all 77 districts.
Anil Kumar Jha, the Managing Director of the Center, said that books for all subjects for the 2081 academic session have been printed and distributed to nine sales centers across the country.
These centers include Biratnagar, Janakpur, Sanothimi, Bharatpur, Pokhara, Butwal, Nepalganj, Surkhet, and Dhangadhi.
According to the schedule set by the Center, textbooks were sold from March 26 to April 10.
Jha emphasized that the Center managed to deliver the books on time even in this academic session.
The center printed 17.5 million books for grades 5 to 12 for the upcoming session and sold them.
The printing operation ran around the clock to meet demand.
Jha expressed confidence that with the start of the state’s admission campaign, there would likely be fewer complaints about textbook shortages.
He assured that necessary arrangements would be made from the relevant provincial office in case of any issues.
Printing and distributing textbooks for classes 1 to 4 have been entrusted to the private sector, and the Curriculum Development Center instructed the use of textbooks from approved publications based on the integrated curriculum at the pre-primary level.
The Center has also published the price list for textbooks for classes 3 to 12 for the upcoming session, as well as the price list for listed sellers in each province.
The timely distribution aligns with the efforts of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Education Minister Sumana Shrestha to ensure that books reach the market before the academic session.
Minister Shrestha inspected the center’s Bhaktapur office and press and instructed the timely delivery of books.
Enrollment campaign to begin
For the new academic session, the student recruitment campaign is starting from the April 14.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Education and Human Resource Development Center has requested the local level and other related parties to prepare and implement the Student Enrollment Campaign Facilitation Action Plan.
On the first day of the campaign, there is a program to interact through ‘virtual’ means in the presence of Education Minister Shrestha with the participation of all local level education heads, unit heads, municipality federations, rural village federations, ministries and central agencies.
Director of Education and Human Resource Development Center Govinda Raj Pokhrel said that the message of the campaign will be broadcast on FM radios as well.
As part of this campaign, which will focus on community schools, the school management committee and the teachers’ parents’ association will start an enrollment campaign on April 14 by distributing textbooks to the students enrolled in the school.
