Westerly winds and local phenomena impacting Nepal’s weather

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has said a partial effect of westerly winds and local phenomena has impacted Nepal’s weather.

According to the Division, the hilly regions are experiencing predominantly clear skies, with varying degrees of cloud cover.

This afternoon, the weather is likely to remain mostly clear in the hilly areas, particularly in Koshi Province, while other regions may witness partly cloudy skies.

There’s a chance of isolated light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and sporadically elsewhere.

Moreover, light snowfall is possible in select high hill and Himalayan areas.

Tonight’s forecast indicates mainly clear skies in Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, with partial cloudiness elsewhere.

In certain hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, isolated instances of light rain with thunder and lightning are anticipated, along with the possibility of light snowfall in high-altitude regions.

Notably, there’s a potential for storms in parts of Lumbini Province, including Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and the hilly areas of Sudurpaschim Province.

The Division has advised people to take necessary precautions as these conditions could impact various aspects of daily life, such as agriculture, health, tourism, mountain activities, and transportation by road and air.
