KATHMANDU: Yuvraj Sharma, a Nepali Congress lawmaker and contender for the position of National Assembly Chairman, has committed to uplifting the stature of the upper house.
Following the formal registration of his candidacy for the National Assembly chairman post, Sharma expressed his determination to further enhance the prestige of the role, provided he secures the position.
“If elected as the National Assembly Chairman, I am committed to elevating the prestige of the assembly,” stated the NC candidate.
Sharma’s nomination as the NC candidate was put forth by Ananda Prasad Dhungana and Kiran Babu Shrestha. He received support from Loktantrik Samajbadi Party lawmaker Shekhar Kumar Singh.
In the newly formed ruling coalition, Narayan Dahal has been put forth as the coalition’s candidate.
Dahal’s candidacy was proposed by Gopi Achhami Sarki from CPN-Maoist Center and backed by Devendra Dahal from CPN-UML, Beduram Bhusal from CPN-Unified Socialist Party, and Mohammad Khalid from the Janata Samajbadi Party.
