Govt won’t back down from Bansbari land encroachment issue: DPM Shrestha

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has stated that the government will not step back from the Bansbari land encroachment case involving a 10-ropani plot of then Bansbari Shoe Factory.

In response to questions raised by parliamentarians in the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the federal parliament, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha made this declaration.

“The executive organ of the state is the government. Other organs of the state are progressing in accordance with the principle of decentralization of power,” he said. “The decision not to release individuals like Arun Chaudhary on bail was made by the court. However, it raised some questions about the judicial process.”

He also expressed his respect for the court’s decision.

Earlier, parliamentarians, including Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, criticized the government for stepping back from various corruption cases.
