KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has extended congratulations to Muhammad Yunus, the newly-appointed head of Bangladesh’s interim government, and expressed best wishes for his successful tenure.

The NC anticipates that the interim government will soon announce the election date in collaboration with all political parties, civil society, and concerned groups.

The NC also hopes the interim government will foster a peaceful environment by upholding religious tolerance and social harmony, while safeguarding the rights of religious minorities.

The party is particularly concerned about recent attacks on Hindu and Buddhist communities during protests.

At a Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting held today, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba emphasized the importance of Bangladesh’s democratic and constitutional processes.

The NC reiterated its support for a democratic and peaceful Bangladesh, where the rights of all citizens are respected.

During the meeting at the NC’s central office in Sanepa, several central members, including Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, shared their views on various proposals.

The next meeting is scheduled for August 11 at 11:00 AM.
