KATHMANDU: The monsoon, heralding the onset of the rainy season, has made its way into Nepal today (June 10).
The Weather Forecasting Division released an announcement today, indicating that the monsoon has commenced in Nepal’s Koshi province.
Traditionally, the monsoon enters Nepal from its eastern periphery, with June 13 being the earliest anticipated date.
This year, the monsoon arrived in Nepal three days earlier than the anticipated usual date.
The Division noted, “In various other regions of Nepal, the monsoon is expected to progress gradually over the next few days.”
Having traversed through India’s north-east, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and finally reaching Sikkim on May 31, the monsoon entered Nepal a mere ten days later.
Meteorological experts suggest that the monsoon’s influence, which initially concentrates in the eastern territories, gradually expands across the country throughout the summer.
