Election symbols allocated to by-election candidates

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has allocated election symbols to candidates participating in the upcoming by-elections.

The by-elections for a House of Representatives seat in Ilam-2 and a provincial assembly member seat in Bajhang-1 are scheduled for April 27.

A total of 20 candidates, including 12 from various political parties and eight independent candidates, had submitted their nominations in Ilam.

Among them, independent candidate Keshav Kumar Chapagain withdrew his candidacy.

The remaining 19 candidates were listed, and they were assigned their respective election symbols.

Similarly, in Bajhang, candidates from 12 political parties had filed nominations.

After Nepali Janata Dal candidate Ashok Sunar withdrew his candidacy, election symbols were distributed to the remaining 11 candidates, as per the EC’s announcement.
