Home Ministry shares model for inclusive electoral management

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has unveiled a model aimed at making electoral management more effective through the active participation of multiple stakeholders. The initiative seeks to ensure that the upcoming elections are conducted in a free, fair, and calm environment.

Under the model, district-level bodies have been issued guidelines for electoral management that involve political parties, civil society representatives, and intellectuals. The approach emphasizes strengthening coordination and collaboration down to the ward level to ensure a systematic and transparent election process.

The Ministry highlighted the essential roles that political parties, civil society, media, the private sector, and experts can play in all phases of electoral management. All District Administration Offices have already been instructed to implement this inclusive approach.

According to Ministry Spokesperson Anand Kafle, the concept is designed to involve political representatives, officials, and intellectuals at the ward level, encouraging them to take ownership of the election process. He said the approach is expected to help create an environment conducive to holding the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) elections in a free and fair manner.

Chief District Officers and all office-bearers of the District Security Committees have been tasked with ensuring the implementation of this model.
