Home Minister Lamichhane directs Nepal Police for enhanced citizen safety and security



KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister, Rabi Lamichhane, has instructed Nepal Police to ensure the safety and security of citizens.

Following his visit to the Nepal Police Headquarters, Lamichhane directed police personnel to take action based on evidence in any incident, emphasizing a result-oriented approach to investigations and equal application of the law.

During the visit, Lamichhane paid tribute to the Police Martyrs Memorial and toured the museum within the Nepal Police Headquarters.

He recognized the contributions of both former and current police personnel in building the institution’s reputation.

Encouraging police officers to fulfill their responsibilities within the framework of the law, Lamichhane emphasized the importance of providing career enhancement opportunities for staff.

He highlighted the need to leverage technology and cultivate a skilled workforce to address crimes involving technology.

Lamichhane instructed the police administration to prioritize cases involving women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, ensuring prompt justice for them.

Recognizing usury, cooperative mismanagement, economic crimes, fraud, cybercrime, and drug smuggling as significant challenges, the Home Minister urged the police to focus on controlling these issues.

IGP Basanta Kunwar affirmed the commitment of Nepal Police to implementing the directives of the Home Minister.
