KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has affirmed that Nepal has not incurred any losses from the recent agreements signed with India.
Participating in the discussion at the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday, the Prime Minister assured that the country’s interests remain safeguarded due to the recent agreements with India.
“There is no need for secrecy regarding the agreements made during the visit of Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar to Nepal,” Prime Minister Dahal stated.
He mentioned that the agreements reached with India fall under the jurisdiction of the federal government.
Prime Minister Dahal also highlighted the Indian embassy’s capability to directly spend up to 200 million rupees, clarifying that such agreements are not restricted to India alone but can extend to other nations as well. He emphasized that there would be no adverse impact on the country’s interests if the embassy spends up to 50 million rupees. However, he noted that decisions allowing spending up to 200 million rupees have not yet been finalized.
Prime Minister Dahal disclosed that the cabinet had endorsed the deal nearly 25 days ago.
During today’s committee meeting, CPN-UML leader Mahesh Bartaula raised concerns about potential national damage resulting from the agreement with India. In response, Prime Minister Dahal clarified that there had been no national damage incurred from this matter.
