KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has revealed that the Indian government is hesitant to purchase electricity generated by Hydro Power Projects directly funded by China.
Speaking at a meeting of the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee on Wednesday, PM Dahal emphasized that the disagreement was conveyed by the Indian government, echoing the sentiments expressed by Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar during his recent visit to Nepal.
Despite the historic deal signed between the two nations for the exchange of 10,000 megawatts of electricity over the next decade during Minister Jaishankar’s visit, Dahal pointed out that the agreement doesn’t specify a restriction to only buying electricity from projects funded by the Indian government.
However, he highlighted the Indian government’s objection to the exchange of electricity produced by projects funded by China.
