KATHMANDU: The Valley Road Expansion Victims’ Struggle Committee has called on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to initiate impeachment proceedings against two Supreme Court judges.

Led by Suman Sayami, coordinator of the Committee, the members visited Baluwatar to submit their demand for the impeachment of Judges Anand Mohan Bhattarai and Binod Sharma.

In their letter, the Committee expressed deep concerns, “Since the court has repeatedly targeted valley dwellers and the local community from the beginning, it is crucial to address this issue.”

The letter states that justices Anand Mohan Bhattarai and Binod Sharma have attacked religion, culture, civilization, and identity without understanding societal psychology or the spirit of the Constitution.

“We strongly demand their impeachment as their decisions have been made outside legal and constitutional bounds,” the memorandum stated.

The letter also highlighted the potential impact of the Supreme Court’s ruling, which requires leaving an additional 20 meters on riverbanks.

The Committee has argued that this decision could displace hundreds of thousands of people and undermines property valuation.

The letter further criticized a decision by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, which the committee believes is impractical and detrimental.
