Four arrested at TIA in possession of illegal gold



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested four individuals at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for possession of illegally smuggled gold.

The suspects were apprehended at TIA while attempting to collect the smuggled gold.

Two of the individuals were caught with a gold chain weighing approximately 25 grams and 60.99 grams of raw gold.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Saroj Koirala, 31, of Kerabari Rural Municipality-9, Morang, and Mohammad Inteyaj Alam, 24, of Katahariya Municipality-6, Rautahat.

Alam was arrested while receiving the gold from Koirala in the TIA parking area.

Additionally, Mohammad Arman, 21, of Surunga Municipality-5, Saptari, and Jyaudin Miya, 37, of Khadak Municipality-6, were arrested in possession of the gold chain.

They were apprehended in the TIA parking area when Miya was handing over the illegally smuggled chain to Arman.

All four suspects are currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway.
