KATHMANDU: Amidst controversy, Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party leader and former Chief Minister, Surendra Raj Pandey, filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court on Tuesday, seeking the annulment of the appointment of newly nominated Chief Minister Khagaraj Adhikari.
The Supreme Court has slated a hearing for this writ petition on Wednesday.
The controversy stems from Adhikari’s alleged use of the province Speaker’s signature to assert a majority for his appointment as Chief Minister.
Previously, in a similar case in Koshi Province, the Supreme Court ruled against including the Speaker’s signature to establish a majority for government formation in the province.
NC approached the SC, citing the precedent set in the Koshi province case.
