KATHMANDU: In a bid to facilitate the settlement of electricity tariff dues linked to dedicated and trunk line services, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has introduced a five-year installment plan.

The NEA’s public notice, issued today, invites relevant entities to submit applications for the installment facility at their respective NEA distribution centers within the next 30 days.

This move comes in the wake of a decision taken during the January 1 meeting of the NEA Board of Directors, allowing industries a one-time installment facility to clear their outstanding dues related to dedicated and trunk line services.

Responding to the pressing issue of accumulated electricity dues from 61 industries, totaling Rs 22.24 billion, the NEA has initiated this measure. The accumulated dues have led to power disconnections for 24 industries.

Industry stakeholders and businesses can now take advantage of this extended payment option, demonstrating the NEA’s commitment to supporting economic sectors and ensuring a sustainable power supply.
