Govt to bring 20 bailey bridges from India

CHAUTARA: The government has planned to bring 20 bailey bridges from India.

Preparation for it was made to ensure alternative crossing in the places were bridges are damaged and swept away by the floods and landslides.

The country witnessed nonstop rainfall on September 27-28 that claimed the lives of over 245 people and damaged huge property, prompting the government to declare 14 districts as disaster crises zones for three months so that relief distribution and rehabilitation works would be forwarded in a smooth manner.

Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport Devendra Dahal shared the information of import of the bailey bridges during his inspection of the physical infrastructures that witnessed damages and destructions in the recent disaster in Sindhupalchowk.

The truss bridges would be installed soon at Tatopani, he informed. Three federal ministers arrived here in course of garnering information about the flood-hit places of Sindhupalchowk district on Tuesday.

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Defense Minister Manbir Rai and Minister Dahal held discussions with the officials at District Administration Office.

The ministers reached Khurkot and inspected the damages rendered to the Khurkot Bridge linking Sindhuli with Ramechhap district and also saw the Bhotekoshi area of Sindhupalchok.

People’s representatives at local level, security chief, and Chief District Officer shared information about the damages incurred to roads, bridges and need of immediate relief distribution, rehabilitation and reconstruction.
