Reversing proportional and inclusive rights unacceptable: Prachanda

BIRATNAGAR: Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has asserted that the Constitution cannot be amended by reversing proportional and inclusive rights.

Speaking to media at the Biratnagar Airport on Sunday, Prachanda, also a former Prime Minister, emphasized that while he is not opposed to constitutional amendments, they cannot be achieved by diminishing these rights.

He warned that any attempt to alter the Constitution by undermining the proportional and inclusive system in the National Assembly would face strong opposition.

Prachanda advocated for constitutional changes that would enhance people’s rights and expressed that the Maoists’ current priority is not forming a government.

He suggested that if the alliance between CPN-UML and Nepali Congress persists until 2084 BS, it would facilitate the strengthening and organization of the Maoist party.

Additionally, Prachanda criticized the current coalition government, alleging that it was formed to shield the corrupt.

He denied claims that he intended to turn Nepal into Bangladesh, but warned that the alliance’s arrogance could lead to a situation reminiscent of Bangladesh.
