Landslides block Karnali Highway

JUMLA: The Karnali Highway has been blocked by landslides triggered by last night’s incessant rainfall.

As a result, the highway remains completely blocked for traffic due to the mud-slip that took place at Ismod and Gaganekhola located in Shubhkalika rural municipality-1 of Kalikot under the Surkhet-Jumla road of the highway.

Efforts are being made to remove the landslide debris and resume traffic on the blocked section of the highway, said information officer of the Road Division Office, Bir Bahadur GT.

The road section has been blocked several times this monsoon due to repeated landslides in Gaganekhola.

Meanwhile, passengers traveling from Jumla, Kalikot and Mugu to Surkhet, Nepalgunj and Kathmandu remain stranded as a result of the landslide blocking the road.
