NC insists on parliamentary committee to probe Rabi Lamichhane’s alleged involvement in cooperative fraud

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC), the leading opposition party, has reiterated its stance on the necessity of forming a parliamentary committee to investigate the alleged involvement of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane in a cooperative fraud case.

The decision was reached during a meeting of former and current office bearers convened at President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha on Wednesday afternoon.

Vice President Dhanraj Gurung disclosed that the party remains steadfast in its demand for a parliamentary committee to thoroughly investigate the fraud allegations against Lamichhane.

With the government summoning a budget session of the parliament set to commence on Friday, Nepali Congress reaffirmed its commitment to pressing for the establishment of the investigative committee.

During the previous winter session of the parliament, Nepali Congress had resorted to obstructing parliamentary proceedings, reiterating their call for the formation of the committee to probe Lamichhane’s alleged involvement in the fraudulent activities.
