PM Dahal urges dialogue for trunk and dedicated lines controversy resolution

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed the need to resolve the conflict over trunk and dedicated lines based on consensus.

The Prime Minister suggested that entrepreneurs should consider the option of paying the electricity authority for the resolution of this issue and also explore avenues for industrial operations.

During discussions at Singha Durbar with the Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister, secretaries, and other officials, the Prime Minister indicated a conclusion by considering authorities’ directions, including parliamentary committee instructions, taking into account the views of the Attorney General’s office.

Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet informed that the ministry has been actively attempting to swiftly resolve the controversy over trunk and dedicated lines based on the facts and prevailing laws.

Minister Basnet reasoned that allowing entrepreneurs time to pay the installment for the dues and seeking legal advice and recommendations from the Attorney General’s office would lead to the resolution of the issue.

Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Ramesh Rijal expressed that industries could present their issues appropriately and address them, hoping for facilitation in discussions.

During the discussions, Kulman Ghising, the executive director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, highlighted the authority’s commitment to resolving the controversy over trunk and dedicated lines by prioritizing the authority’s tasks, work, and plans.
