KARNALI: As many as 4,000 policemen have been mobilized in Karnali Province under the ‘Integrated Festival Security Action Plan-2081’ to ensure the safety and security of major Nepali festivals: Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath.

A total of 4,351 police personnel have been deployed across the province as part of this comprehensive security initiative.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Janak Bhattarai from the Karnali Province Police Office stated that this plan has been swiftly created and implemented to prevent and control potential criminal activities and maintain order during the festivities.

“A specific number of police personnel have been mobilized from various police offices under the Provincial Police Office to execute the festival security plan and manage disaster responses,” he said.

Deputy Inspector General Bhattarai emphasized that the integrated security plan aims to deter criminal activities such as gambling, drunkenness, vehicle accidents, robbery, theft, hooliganism, and pickpocketing, particularly in areas like banks and financial institutions.

According to the security plan, 145 policemen have been assigned to 12 provincial and district command posts.

Additionally, 401 personnel have been mobilized in 14 state and district “reserve” teams, ready to assist if further support is needed due to unforeseen circumstances or incidents.

Furthermore, the deployment includes 234 officers in 48 mobile patrol teams, 152 in 112 motorcycle patrols, and 627 in 233 foot patrols.

There are also 248 officers in 119 Quick Response Teams (QRT) and 377 in 100 long- and short-distance patrols.

In total, 113 pickets have been established, with 276 policemen stationed at 276 locations, 76 in nine high-risk areas, and 24 in three subordinate police monitoring locations.

Additionally, 390 policemen have been deployed in 162 areas for regular, special, and emergency checks, while 199 officers have been assigned traffic duties at 85 locations.

Similarly, 750 personnel have been mobilized at 198 sites to ensure the security of banks and financial institutions, conduct market monitoring, and protect specific individuals.
