SAFF U-16: Nepal to play against India

KATHMANDU: Nepal is set to face India at the Chyasal ground in Lalitpur at 3 pm in the SAFF U-16 women’s football tournament today.

The pressure is palpable for Nepal, as victory in this match is imperative to secure a spot in the final.

Anything less than a win would spell elimination for the Nepalese team from the tournament.

In the current standings, Bangladesh leads with an impressive 6 points, having won both of its matches.

India follows in second place with 3 points, clinching one victory and enduring one loss in two matches.

Nepal shares the third position with 3 points, securing a win and facing defeat in its two matches.

Meanwhile, Bhutan is yet to secure any points, having suffered defeats in both of its matches.

Nepal’s journey in the tournament began with a 2-0 loss to Bangladesh in the opening match, but the team bounced back with a convincing 3-0 victory over Bhutan in the second match.

India, on the other hand, started with a dominant 7-0 win against Bhutan but faced a setback with a 3-1 loss to Bangladesh in the subsequent match.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh and Bhutan are scheduled to face off tomorrow.

The top two teams will then lock horns in the final showdown on Sunday, adding to the anticipation and excitement surrounding this edition of the SAFF U-16 women’s football tournament.
