KATHMANDU: CPN-Unified Socialist Party Chairman, Madhav Kumar Nepal, has dismissed any potential controversy in the election of the National Assembly (NA) Chairman.

Speaking to the reporters at the Parliament building in Baneshwor on Wednesday, Chair Nepal expressed confidence in coalition consensus on the selection of the NA Chairman.

He stated that discussions were ongoing among the alliance partners, and there was unanimous agreement on the matter.

The Unified Socialist Chair mentioned that there had been no formal discussions or disputes on this issue.

However, the NA Chairman claim within the leaders from different parties of the coalition has already sparked controversy.

Claiming it to the largest party in the Upper House, Maoist Center has been demanding the position for it, whereas the largest party in the parliament and ruling coalition, Nepali Congress, has also been insisting that it should get the NA Chairman.

Although not declared officially, NC, reportedly is planning to file newly elected NA member Krishna Prasad Sitaula for the post of NA Chairman.

Unified Socialist party Chair Nepal indicated that a formal decision would be made through an official meeting after convening discussions within the coalition.
