Three including Arun Chaudhary released amid controversy

KATHMANDU: Arun Chaudhary, the sibling of billionaire and Member of Parliament Binod Chaudhary, has been released today subsequent to his recent apprehension in connection with the Bansbari-based Leather Shoe Factory land controversy.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has facilitated Chaudhary’s along with Ajit Narayan Singh Thapa and Sanjay Thakur’s release in compliance with the Kathmandu District Court’s directive, according to Inspector Navraj Adhikari, the spokesperson for the bureau.

Previously, the Kathmandu District Court had granted permission for Chaudhary’s detention for a mere two-day period, casting doubt upon the procedural integrity of the proceedings.

The ramifications of the court’s actions have reverberated to the highest echelons of the judiciary, with discussions unfolding at the Supreme Court level.

Against this backdrop, Binod Chaudhary has purportedly wielded significant influence, marshaling resources spanning from Baluwatar to the judiciary in a determined bid to secure his sibling’s liberty.

Allegations have surfaced regarding undue pressure being exerted in support of the Deputy Prime Minister from Baluwatar, as well as towards a judge with ties to Chaudhary’s spouse.

The release of Arun Chaudhary punctuates a chapter of intrigue and controversy, with lingering questions shrouding the impartiality of the legal process and the extent of political influence within the corridors of justice.
