Home Minister instructs Lalitpur DAO to provide disaster loss information

LALITPUR: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has instructed the District Administration Office and the District Security Committee in Lalitpur to quickly submit details of beneficiaries for the government’s post-disaster relief and compensation.

He emphasized that the government aims to provide assistance to those impacted by the recent flooding and landslides within the next three days.

“The government is taking these matters seriously, and it is our duty to swiftly rescue and compensate those affected to ease their hardships,” he stated, urging all relevant agencies to assess damage promptly and respond to post-disaster needs diligently.

Today, the minister toured disaster-hit areas in Godavari, Lalitpur. During a meeting with the District Security Committee this morning, he received updates on relief and rescue operations, as well as information on the physical losses incurred due to the disasters.

He also visited Anandwan Hospital in Lele, which was impacted by a landslide that resulted in the death of hospital research technical officer Bibek Singh, who had been with the facility for 32 days.

Lalitpur’s Chief District Officer, Tulasi Bahadur Shrestha, informed the Home Minister that cash compensation of Rs 200,000 has been delivered to the families of the deceased.

The Minister was joined on his visit by Bagmati Province Minister for Youth and Sports, Min Krishna Maharjan, District Coordination Committee Lalitpur’s Chief Rhishi Dev Phuyal, Godavari municipality mayor Gajendra Maharjan, and other local representatives.
