KATHMANDU: Meteorologists have issued warnings for 34 districts across five provinces that are at high risk of floods, landslides, and inundation on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has advised residents in these high-risk areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.

Additionally, the NDRRMA has urged night buses to avoid travel in these areas during the night to mitigate the risk of natural disasters.

The districts identified as being at the highest risk due to the active monsoon include:

Koshi Province: Taplejung, Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, and Tehrathum

Bagmati Province: Rasuwa, Chitwan, Sindhupalchowk, Dhading, Nuwakot, and Dolakha

Gandaki Province: Myagdi, Baglung, Kaski, Parbat, Syangja, Tanahun, Nawalparasi East, Lamjung, and Gorkha

Lumbini Province: Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Palpa, Gulmi, Nawalparasi West, Dang, Banke, Bardia, Pyuthan, and Arghakhanchi

Sudurpaschim Province: Kailali, Kanchanpur, Dadeldhura, Doti, and Baitadi

This advisory follows a tragic incident on July 12, when two night buses—Bagmati Province 03-006 Kha 1516, traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu, and Bagmati Province 03-001 Kha 2459, heading from Kathmandu to Gaur—were swept away by the Trishuli River due to a landslide in Simaltal.

Out of the 65 passengers on these buses, three managed to escape by jumping out, while the bodies of 24 individuals have been recovered.

The condition of the remaining two buses and 38 passengers is still unknown.
