Balen asks Oli: Will politics of votes at the expense of people’s lives go on forever?

KATHMANDU: Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balen Shah has criticized CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli regarding the Giribandhu Tea Estate land scam.

Taking to social media, Balen stated that around 2,000 families in Kathmandu alone have been affected by the recent rains.

Posting photos of inundated areas in Kathmandu, he pointed out that a similar number of families, approximately 15,000, could be accommodated at Giribandhu Tea Estate.

Addressing Oli directly, Balen questioned him on the duration of his engagement in vote politics, suggesting it has persisted for 30 years.

He queried whether Oli intends to continue this pattern for another three decades.

Balen wrote, “Are we supposed to sit and wait until a major disaster strikes? Will this politics of votes at the expense of people’s lives go on forever? Instead of perpetuating a 30-year-old suspension, we have devised plans to suspend them for another 30 years while properly relocating and managing these affected families.”

Balen has not only criticized Oli’s political tactics but also advocated for a proactive approach in managing the welfare of affected communities.
