Ashok Rai-led Janata Samajbadi Party officially registered at Election Commission

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has officially recognized the Ashok Rai-led Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) as a new political entity.

On Monday, the JSP, supported by seven lawmakers from the House of Representatives (HoR) and 30 central committee members, completed its registration process at the Election Commission.

This move comes after these lawmakers submitted their application to the Election Commission on Sunday, following a split from the Upendra Yadav-led Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal.

Among the 12 lawmakers of JSP Nepal in the HoR, Ashok Rai has garnered support from Pradeep Yadav, Ranju Thakur, Birendra Mahatto, Sushila Shrestha, Hasina Khan, and Nawal Kishwor Sah.

According to the Election Commission, the Rai-led JSP obtained recognition in accordance with the Guidelines related to Political Parties, 2074.
