Asian Cup and South Asian Triathlon Championship to be held in Pokhara



POKHARA: The Asian Cup and South Asian Triathlon Championship is going to be organized in Pokhara on April 27.

The championship is being held in this lake city since 2011. It has been regularly held since then except for two years due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The sports event will take place at local Lakeside. Nepal Triathlon Association is the organizer of the championship.

The International Triathlon Union has already posted the date of the championship in its official website, according to Association president Nilendra Raj Shrestha.

He said the competition will be held towards the sprint event under the championship.

Fifty-three athletes from 18 countries had taken part in the championship last year.

The sprint event includes 750 metres swimming in the Phewa Lake, 20 kilometres cycling and five kilometres of race.

Shrestha added that the long distance race will be held from Gaurighat – Sahidchowk, Mustang Chowk, Birauta Chowk, Damside and back to Gaurighat through Rastra Bank Chowk.

Preparations have started for the championship.

A meeting of the office-bearers of the central, provincial and district triathlon associations decided to gear up the preparations and make the championship grand this time compared to the past editions.
