Nepal to compete against South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Netherlands

KATHMANDU: Nepal has been designated to Group D in the upcoming T20 World Cup, joining the ranks alongside South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the Netherlands.

The official schedule, unveiled recently, marks Nepal’s debut match against the Netherlands in T20 World Cup cricket. The much-anticipated opening clash is slated for June 4 in Dallas, USA.

Nepal secured its berth in the T20 World Cup during the Asia Qualifiers’ semifinal held in Kathmandu last October, triumphing over the UAE by a convincing eight-wicket margin.

The team’s second fixture is scheduled for June 11 against Sri Lanka in Florida, USA, followed by a face-off against South Africa on June 14 in Saint Vincent. Nepal will conclude its group stage with a match against Bangladesh on June 16, also in Saint Vincent.

Meanwhile, Group E comprises India and Pakistan alongside Ireland, Canada, and the USA.

Each group member will partake in a total of four matches. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Eight stage, where eight teams will be split into two groups, leading to a semifinal showdown between the top two teams from each group.

The tournament kicks off with an enticing encounter between America and Canada on June 1 in Dallas.
