Over 19,000 vehicles penalized in Gandaki Province in first fiscal month



POKHARA: Authorities have taken action against 19,113 vehicles for violating traffic rules in Gandaki Province in the first month of the current fiscal year.

The Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office in Pokhara stated that this enforcement covered all 11 districts of the province.

During this period, significant revenue was generated from fines.

Kaski saw the highest number with 7,313 vehicles violating the rules leading to a revenue collection of Rs 54,98,500.

In Nawalparasi, Rs 22,41,500 was collected from 2,887 vehicles.

Tanahun generated Rs 26,97,500 from 3,444 vehicles, while Syangja contributed Rs 9,83,500 from 1,235 vehicles. Baglung saw Rs 9,07,000 from 907 vehicles.

Other districts included Gorkha with Rs 9,28,500 from 972 vehicles, Parbat with Rs 5,75,000 from 611 vehicles, Myadi with Rs 4,25,500 from 574 vehicles, Mustang with Rs 71,500 from 75 vehicles, and Manang with Rs 22,000 from 24 vehicles.

According to the Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, the increasing number of traffic rule violations has prompted more rigorous checks.

In addition to enforcement, the office has conducted 3,257 traffic awareness programs throughout the province aimed at reducing traffic accidents and improving traffic management.

These programs have benefited 155,134 people, including 56,253 women and 98,881 men, it has been said.
