Meditation, a pathway to the essence of life: DPM Shrestha

LUMBINI: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha emphasized that meditation serves as a gateway to understanding the essence of life.

He stressed that the practice of meditation inspires us towards truth, justice, equality, and progress.

Speaking at a program held on the occasion of World Meditation Day at Mayadevi Temple on Friday, DPM Shrestha described meditation as a contemplative practice that encourages us to dispel illusions and move towards enlightenment, from darkness to light.

He highlighted it as a means of self-empowerment.

The Deputy Prime Minister underscored the significance of studying Buddha and Buddhism for peace, adding that those engaged in corruption and criminal activities cannot truly embrace meditation.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, remarked that Nepal and China share a profound connection not only through their mountains and rivers but also through the teachings of Buddha and Buddhism.

He expressed pride in figures like Araniko and Bhrikuti, who are revered not only by Nepalis but also by the Chinese.

Song noted that Lumbini has the potential to spread a special message of peace and happiness to people in the modern era. He highlighted the strong bond and cooperation between Nepal and China, which contributes to the promotion of tourism in Lumbini.
