High Court orders appearance of both parties in Sandeep Lamichhane’s case, next hearing on April 15

High Court in Patan has ordered both parties to appear before the court in the case involving cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane. The order was issued in response to Lamichhane’s writ seeking a review of the case in which he was found guilty. The division bench, comprising Judge Nripadhwaj Niroula and Justice Krishnaram Koirla, has requested the presence of both parties before proceeding with further hearings.
Such orders are issued to settle disputes and require the opposing party to provide information. According to sources from the High Court, the next hearing in the case has been scheduled for April 15.

DAO extends prohibitory orders to three more municipalities in Sunsari

The District Administration Office (DAO) in Sunsari has extended prohibitory orders to three additional municipalities. Acting Chief District Officer Vedraj Phuyal issued these orders for Inaruwa Municipality, Bhokraha Narasingh Rural Municipality, and Koshi Rural Municipality. Previously, similar orders had been implemented in Harinagara Rural Municipality and Devangunj Rural Municipality. This extension comes in response to the escalation of violent clashes between two groups in Bhutaha Municipality of Sunsari, raising concerns that similar incidents may spread to other areas.

Four Pakistanis detained for trafficking Sri Lankans to Europe

Four Pakistani citizens have been arrested for detaining Sri Lankan citizens in a hotel in Nepal, allegedly promising to facilitate their journey to Europe. According to the accusations, they held the Sri Lankan citizens captive in a hotel in Nepal after bringing them from Sri Lanka, promising to arrange their employment in countries like Canada, Romania, and Greece. The police accused them of forcibly confining the Sri Lankan citizens, intimidating them, restricting their communication with their families, and seizing their cash.

Ireland Wolves dominates as Nepal ‘A’ bowled out for only 60 runs

In a commanding ODI series match, Ireland Wolves secured a resounding 114-run victory against Nepal ‘A’. Having won the toss, Ireland Wolves opted to bat first and posted a total of 174 runs, losing all 10 wickets in 38.4 overs. Gavin Hoey led the charge with an impressive 50 runs, supported by Neil Rock and Liam McCarthy who contributed 45 and 35 runs respectively.

UML Chair Oli vows to uphold existing ruling coalition

CPN-UML Chair KP Oli has pledged to maintain the current political equation firmly in place. Addressing UML’s Ninth District Convention in Syangja on Friday, he assured that the existing coalition would remain strong. He took the opportunity to criticize the basis of the former alliance, which, he argued, fell apart due to its inherent weaknesses.

Maoist Center leader Mahara appointed as Lumbini Chief Minister

Jokh Bahadur Mahara, the leader of the CPN-Maoist Center parliamentary party in Lumbini Province, has been appointed as the Chief Minister of the province. Province Chief Amik Sherchan appointed Mahara as the Chief Minister in accordance with Article 168(2) of the Constitution. Mahara has the support of 48 members of the Provincial Assembly, including 29 from the CPN-UML, 10 from the Maoist Center, 4 from the Nagarik Unmukti Party, 3 from the Janata Samajbadi party, 1 from the CPN-Unified Socialist, and 1 independent.

Marital rape allegations leveled against singer Rabi Oad

Singer Rabi Oad faces accusations of marital rape, according to recent reports. Rabi Oad gained prominence as a Nepalese singer, actor, and dancer after clinching the title in the second season of the Nepalese TV series Nepal Idol. The complaint was lodged by Oad’s wife on April 2 at the Area Police Office Jalhari, as confirmed by Inspector Pushkat Pant, spokesperson at the District Police Office, Kanchanpur.

Ilam sees increase of 422 voters, national count rises by 87,417

The Election Commission (EC) has announced the finalized voter counts for the upcoming by-elections scheduled for April 27 in Ilam-2 and Bhajang-1 constituencies.In Ilam-2, there has been an increase of 422 voters, bringing the total to 115,889 from the previous count of 115,467 in 2079. Similarly, in Bhajang-1, the number of voters has risen by 638, reaching a total of 61,748.On a national scale, voter registration has seen a significant increase, with 87,417 new voters added across the country. Notably, Morang district now boasts the highest number of voters nationwide, with a total of 739,390 registered voters, surpassing Kathmandu.
