Indian-aided school building inaugurated in Khotang

KATHMANDU: The newly constructed school and hostel building of Sharada Secondary School in Rawabesi Rural Municipality, Khotang, has been officially inaugurated.

The building, funded by the Nepal-India Development Cooperation, was constructed with a grant assistance of Rs 36.1 million.

San Bahadur Rai, Chief of District Coordination Committee, along with Phatik Kumar Shrestha, Chairperson of Rawabesi Rural Municipality, and Suman Shekhar, First Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, jointly inaugurated the two-storied building during a ceremony held in Rawa Besi on Thursday.

The Indian government also provided necessary furniture for the school and hostel building, according to a statement released by the embassy. The construction project was carried out in coordination with the District Coordination Committee Khotang.

Sharada Secondary School, established in 1952, offers education from grade 1 to plus two level. The school currently has 365 students, with approximately 50 percent being girls.

The Indian Embassy revealed that since 2003, over 550 community development projects have been implemented across Nepal, with 488 projects successfully completed. Currently, 85 projects are underway in various areas of Koshi Province with the grant assistance of India.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by local dignitaries, government officials, social workers, representatives of school management committees, teachers, parents, and students.
