RSP protesters clash with police in Chitwan

CHITWAN: A clash broke out in Chitwan between Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) cadres and the police as RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane was being escorted for questioning in the Sahara Chitwan Cooperative embezzlement case.

According to SP Gautam KC of the District Police Office, Chitwan, the police were forced to take action after RSP cadres pelted stones at the police office.

Some officers were injured in the attack, and the glass of a kitchen window at the police station was broken.

In response, the police deployed water cannons and tear gas to disperse the protesters.

SP Gautam stated that force was necessary after the RSP cadres moved beyond the designated protest area and began attacking.

Meanwhile, Lamichhane has been giving his statement at the District Government Attorney’s Office since Tuesday. His questioning continued through Wednesday morning.
