Prachanda calls for unity against push towards two-party rule

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Maoist Center, Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, has voiced concerns that the country is being steered towards a two-party rule.

He emphasized the need for the public to be made aware and to resist this shift.

Speaking at a program today, Prachanda stated that there are signs of a move towards a two-party system, which he believes could lead to authoritarianism.

He urged party members and the public to receive proper training and work together to prevent this outcome.

“Democratic values, recognition, and ideals are being undermined. The trend towards a two-party rule is evident, which could signal a regression to authoritarianism,” he stated.

Sapkota added that Prachanda emphasized the importance of collaborating with opposition parties and enhancing the role of the Maoist Center in Parliament.

During the meeting, Prachanda highlighted that the issue of nationalism has become increasingly sensitive due to the current geopolitical climate.

He stressed that issues related to nationalism and the public’s livelihood are becoming more complex.

“We must develop new strategies to navigate these challenges, unify and strengthen our party, and focus on addressing public concerns effectively,” he said.

Prachanda also criticized the current government for undermining the progress and good governance achieved by the previous administration.
