KATHMANDU: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has drawn the attention of the Nepali government towards the need to reopen work permits in Russia.

This appeal comes amidst the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the recruitment of Nepali nationals in the Russian military, among other reasons cited by the government for the closure of labor approvals.

However, after the government’s decision to suspend approvals from April 2, Labor, Employment, and Social Security Minister Dola Prasad Aryal has been urged by the NRNA to reconsider the decision.

A delegation led by NRNA President Dr. Badri KC, along with representatives, met Minister Aryal to discuss potential issues and offer assistance in preventing any challenges arising from the suspension.

President KC emphasized the necessity of reopening work permits.

In response, Minister Aryal highlighted that the matter regarding Russia is not confined to any specific ministry but encompasses the entire state apparatus.

The government expressed its commitment to resolving the issue appropriately and solicited support from all quarters for effective resolution.
