KATHMANDU: Dr. CK Raut’s Janamat Party has decided to seek clarification about its potential role in the Madhes government before committing to the newly formed ruling coalition.

In a Secretariat meeting held at the party’s central office in Kathmandu on Monday, the Janamat Party discussed the coalition partners’ positions regarding the Madhes government and power-sharing arrangements before making a decision to join the government.

The Janamat Party has expressed dissatisfaction with the Madhes government from the outset. Despite an initial agreement on rotating leadership in the Madhes government, disagreements arose during the implementation phase, leading to the party leader’s resignation from the government last month.

Despite these disagreements, the Janamat Party has actively played a role in the current provincial government, where Saroj Kumar Yadav from JSP serves as the Chief Minister.

Before officially joining the coalition, the Janamat Party aims to engage in discussions about its role within the coalition. While the party participated in the government when the coalition was formed on December 25, 2023, it later withdrew from the government.

This time, Dr. Raut intends to address his party’s role, including the ministries it would be allocated, before formalizing its participation in the coalition.
