TAPLEJUNG: A total of 726 individuals have received their national identity cards in Taplejung district.

The District Administration Office initiated the distribution process by collecting relevant information from residents.

Basanta Niraula, an employee in the registration section for national ID cards, reported that 347 women and 379 men were issued their ID cards.

To date, the administration has prepared 7,967 national ID cards.

A backlog of essential cards occurred due to delays in printing. The requirement for citizens to be physically present at the office to collect their cards further complicated the distribution process.

“Citizens were asked to come to the District Administration Office to collect their cards once they were printed and available, but many did not turn up,” Niraula noted.

The low turnout could be attributed to limited access to notices issued by the administration.

Additionally, citizens have expressed frustration over the lengthy wait for this crucial document, despite having provided their personal details.

Since the fiscal year 2077/78 BS, the District Administration Office has collected personal information from 69,598 citizens.

The effort to gather these essential details has been supported by mobilizing local levels.
