Mandatory inclusion of bride and groom’s date of birth in wedding invitations in Aathbiskot Municipality

TRIVENI: Aathbiskot Municipality-3 in Rukum Paschim has introduced a new regulation mandating the inclusion of the bride and groom’s date of birth in wedding invitation cards.

According to Kesharman BK, Ward Chair of Aathbiskot-3, this provision aims to curb child marriages by ensuring transparency and accountability.

In addition to this requirement, efforts are underway to regulate the consumption of alcohol and tobacco products during marriage functions.

BK stated that alcohol and tobacco usage at such events prompted the ward to implement a system where parties involved must pledge to refrain from their use.

It has been reported that approximately 10 couples engaged in child marriages within the ward during the current fiscal year’s 10-month period.

The ward office successfully intervened to halt the marriage of one underage couple.

The ward office has warned of legal action against violators of these regulations.

It’s noteworthy that the ward has enforced a ban on alcohol and tobacco products for the past five years.
