SUNSARI: Tragedy struck in Itahari as a woman lost her life in a fire incident.

The victim, identified as 52-year-old Gopimaya Katwal of Itahari-6, perished in the blaze that erupted in the residence of Bishnu Khadka of Itahari-6 last night, reported Deputy Superintendent of Police of Sunsari, Naveen Krishna Bhandari.

Katwal was residing in a rented room within Khadka’s house along with her son and daughter-in-law. Initial police investigations suggest that Katwal might have engaged in self-immolation, as the room was found locked from the inside.

Further inquiries into the incident are ongoing, confirmed the Sunsari District Police Office.

Family members revealed that Katwal had been undergoing treatment for depression, shedding light on possible motives behind the tragic event.
