Rain and snowfall expected in many parts of the country starting Sunday, caution advised

The weather is anticipated to change in various locations across Nepal, leading to rainfall and snowfall on Sunday. The Meteorological Forecasting Division has issued a special bulletin providing information on precipitation and snowfall in different regions. The bulletin emphasizes the need for caution due to the anticipated increase in intensity. According to meteorologist Govinda Jha from the Meteorological Forecasting Division, on Sunday, snowfall is expected in the Himalayan and high mountainous regions of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces. The hilly regions of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces are likely to experience rainfall. However, minimal impact is expected in the Terai and eastern Tarai districts.

Bansbari land embezzlement: Chaudhary pledges to surrender illegally acquired land

Arun Chaudhary, a businessperson arrested in connection with the misappropriation of land belonging to Bansbari Leather and Shoes Factory, has committed to returning the land if it is determined that the acquisition was illegal. This assurance was conveyed by an investigation officer overseeing the statement recording process of Chaudhary, with Chief of the District Attorney Office, Kathmandu, Sandesh Shrestha, present during the proceedings, as informed by Superintendent of Police from the Central Bureau of Investigation, Nabaraj Adhikari. Chaudhary, the former executive chair of Shoe Factory, along with Ajitnarayan Singh Thapa, the executive chair at the time of the incident, and Sanjay Thakur, proprietor of Champion Footwear Pvt and CG Chandvag Residency, were apprehended by the police in connection with the same case. The investigation has been initiated following their detainment.

UML Chairman Oli accuses President Paudel of crossing constitutional limits

CPN-UML Chairman K P Oli has expressed his displeasure towards President Ramchandra Paudel specially for the latter’s alleged inclination towards a certain political parties. Addressing to UML’s parliamentary party meeting in Kathmandu on Saturday, Oli criticized the recent actions of President Paudel, accusing him of exceeding the constitutional limits of his role. Oli specifically pointed out that President Paudel has not adhered to the decorum of his position. He accused the President of not maintaining a neutral stance and of going beyond the powers granted by the constitution, going as far as suggesting that Paudel should confine himself to his constitutional boundaries.

NC General Secy Thapa advocates strengthened democracy as the only alternative

Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has emphasized the inevitability of strengthening democracy, considering it the sole alternative. Speaking at the Silver Jubilee event organized by the Ankush Daily in Birgunj, Thapa conveyed his belief in the indispensable need for democratic reforms in the country. Thapa underscored the importance of reform efforts not only within political parties but also at the highest echelons of leadership in all sectors. He stated, “The necessity for reform exists among the top leaders of political parties, government officials, and even at the local level. Improvement in every sector is crucial for the overall development of the nation.” While discussing the reform initiatives, Thapa highlighted the importance of concerted efforts from all individuals and communities to bring about fundamental and lasting changes in the country.

In a thrilling final match at Pokhara Stadium, Tribhuvan Army Club emerged victorious, claiming the Aaha Rara Gold Cup trophy with a resounding 3-0 win over Three Star Club. Gillespye Jung Karki, Fatteman Ghale, and Basanta Jimba each contributed a goal to secure the prestigious title for the Army. The winning team not only lifted the coveted trophy but also received a cash prize of Rs 12 lakhs, while the runner-up was awarded Rs six lakhs.

Nepal Police wins PM Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament 2024

Nepal Police won the title of the Prime Minister Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament 2024, defeating Tribhuvan Army Club in the final match at the Tribhuvan University cricket ground. The Police team claimed a six-wicket win, maintaining an unbeaten record throughout the tournament. In the initial innings, after winning the toss, Tribhuvan Army Club opted to bat first, setting a target of 182 runs. Bibek Yadav played a crucial role for the Army Club, scoring a half-century with 63 runs. Lalit Rajbangshi and Dipendra Singh Airee showcased their bowling prowess, each taking three wickets, while Sagar Dhakal, Karan KC, and Kushal Burtel secured one wicket each for Nepal Police.

RSP leaders assigned roles in pressure programs for construction boost

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has delegated responsibilities to its leaders for the upcoming pressure programs aimed at expediting construction projects. The party, responding to slow progress in construction projects nationwide, announced plans to organize pressure programs starting this Sunday.
