KATHMANDU: In the climactic final of the Prime Minister Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament 2024, Tribhuvan Army Club has established a target of 182 runs for Nepal Police after winning the toss and opting to bat first at the Tribhuvan University cricket ground.
The Army Club concluded their innings at 181 runs in 49.4 overs, losing all wickets.
Bibek Yadav emerged as the standout performer for the Army Club, scoring a crucial half-century with 63 runs, providing much-needed stability after the team faced challenges in the initial overs.
Sompal Kami contributed 39 runs, while Imran Sheikh and Kushal Malla added 28 and 17 runs, respectively, to the team’s total.
In response, Lalit Rajbangshi and Dipendra Singh Airee of Nepal Police displayed strong bowling performances, taking three wickets each.
Sagar Dhakal, Karan KC, and Kushal Burtel contributed with one wicket each to restrict the Army Club’s innings.
Police Club, maintaining an unbeaten record, secured the top spot by emerging victorious in all nine league matches.
Meanwhile, Army Club secured the second position with 14 points from nine games, including seven wins and two losses, earning them a spot in the final.
During the league stage, Army Club experienced a narrow 13-run defeat against Police in a closely contested encounter, setting the stage for an intense and closely watched final match.
