Koshi State Minister Shrijan Rai’s vehicle attacked after landslide inspection

KATHMANDU: Koshi’s State Minister Shrijan Rai was attacked while returning from inspecting landslide damage in the Chuhar area, located between Bhojpur and Udaipur districts.

The attack happened on Tuesday night around 10 pm in Sirwani, Belka Municipality, Udaipur, when an armed group tried to loot Rai’s vehicle.

Rai and her team, including the Vice Chair of Aamchok Rural Municipality, Basant Rai, were returning after assessing damage to important infrastructure, such as the suspension bridge and roads under construction. As they were driving back, a group of about 15 people blocked the road and threw stones at the vehicle.

The attackers were reportedly armed with machetes and stones, but Rai’s vehicle managed to escape without any serious injuries.

Udaipur police have arrested six people involved in the attack and are continuing their investigation. Authorities are increasing security in the area following the incident.
