Deuba seeks support from opposition leaders, urges them to join new coalition

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has concluded a meeting with leaders of opposition parties.

During the meeting held on Tuesday evening, Deuba briefed the leaders about the agreement he reached with CPN-UML KP Oli on Monday night.

The meeting was attended by NC Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, General Secretary Gagan Thapa, and leader Krishna Sitaula.

Additionally, the meeting included Janata Samajwadi Party, Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Rajendra Lingden, Chief Whip Gyaneendra Shahi, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Chairman Mahantha Thakur, and senior leader Sarbendra Nath Shukla.

Deuba urged the leaders to support the formation of a new government in coalition with the UML.

In response, RPP Chairman Lingden reportedly expressed his party’s support, emphasizing their stance in favor of constitutional amendments.

Leaders from the Madhesh-based parties also assured their support, according to sources.
